Bengaluru: A late-night visit to a pet grooming centre in Koramangala turned traumatic for a 35-year-old woman suffering from an autoimmune disorder. She was bitten by a German Shepherd while enquiring about services for her pet.The incident occurred around 2.30am on Jan 4, but a complaint was filed on Feb 17. According to police, the woman and her sister were discussing grooming options with the centre’s co-owner when the latter’s dog suddenly rushed towards them. Despite repeated requests to restrain the animal, it bit the woman on the stomach, causing a deep bleeding injury. The family alleged no immediate medical help was offered by the staff. The injured woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she received a tetanus shot and was advised a five-week anti-rabies vaccination course. Her condition is serious because she has an autoimmune disorder and is on medication, increasing the risk of infection from animal bites, police said quoting the complaint. Cops registered a case under BNS Section 291 for negligent conduct with respect to animals.
