Kanpur: Family members created uproar after a newborn baby girl died late Monday night at a private hospital at Ramadevi Chauraha in Kanpur. The family alleged the doctor treated the child via video call, while the hospital’s sweepers were administering treatment to the baby. Police arrived upon receiving information and pacified the people by assuring action, after which the family members took the body of the baby home.Ashish Nishad, resident of Macupurwa in Cantt and employed at the Golf Club, said his wife Muskaan Nishad gave birth to a girl on Mar 28. He said on Monday afternoon, the baby ran high temperature, following which she was admitted to the private hospital at Ramadevi. He said Rs 20,000 was taken for admission.His sister Shivani, who was an attendant, said a doctor came but was treating the baby only via video call. According to Shivani, at 7 pm, the doctor on video call, said the baby’s condition was critical and should be admitted to another hospital. It was also alleged that the hospital staff kept misleading them and informed the baby had died and yet, ordered an injection and medicines worth Rs 2,000.The family asked why injection was administered even after death and where the medicines worth Rs 2,000 went. They said the doctors did not provide treatment, instead, the sweepers and people sitting at the reception were treating the baby.SHO Ajay Prakash Mishra said the case was being investigated on the basis of the written complaint of the family members and legal action would be taken thereafter.
