Kanpur: A city-based surgeon, Dr Shivakant Mishra, has lodged an FIR at Najirabad police station alleging that he was duped of Rs 5.5 crore by one Sushil Dhawan on the pretext of share trading. Dhawan’s wife and two daughters have also been named in the case.According to the police records, Dhawan already has eight FIRs lodged against him.According to the complaint, Mishra, a resident of Sarvoday Nagar, was in contact with Dhawan’s family for the past 15–20 years. Dhawan, who runs a finance company and lives in Motijheel area, advised him to invest in share trading by opening accounts in the names of his wife Dr Neelam Mishra, son Dr Shivanshu, and their hospital.Mishra told police that he invested around Rs4.25 crore through cheques in various accounts and that the present value of the investments was about Rs5.5 crore. However, when he later sought to withdraw the money after noticing suspicious activities, Dhawan started making excuses.The complainant alleged that the accused showed fake share statements through a fraudulent mobile application and embezzled the money using forged documents. Mishra further claimed that Dhawan’s wife Anjali Dhawan and daughters Sonakshi and Vrinda were also involved in the alleged fraud.Police said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
