Chennai: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss accused the DMK govt of systematically deceiving govt employees and guest lecturers. In a statement, Anbumani labelled the current administration as the “total embodiment of fraud” for failing to implement promised welfare measures. The criticism centres on two major unfulfilled promises: the Tamil Nadu assured pension scheme for govt employees and the salary hike for guest lecturers.Anbumani pointed out that although the Tamil Nadu govt announced the implementation of the scheme effective from Jan 1, 2024, it remains only on paper even after three months. Chief minister M K Stalin announced the scheme on Jan 3, and a govt order (GO) was issued on Jan 10. “March has ended, and thousands of govt employees have retired. However, eligible retirees have not received the necessary orders to draw their guaranteed pension. The DMK has cheated them for the third consecutive month,” Anbumani alleged. He highlighted the plight of guest lecturers in state universities. While the University Grants Commission (UGC) recommends a salary of 50,000, the Tamil Nadu govt had promised to raise their pay from 25,000 to 30,000 starting Feb 26.
