Mangaluru: The SSLC preparatory examination-2, held recently, saw an improvement from the previous one. According to officials from the department of school education and literacy, the total pass percentage stood at 67%, while the first results of first preparatory examination was at 50%.Officials said they are working on more strategies to improve the results in the third preparatory, scheduled in a few weeks. This time, the focus was more on those candidates who scored less than 20 marks in the examination.
“Compared to the last exam, we made good progress. The results will be further improved in the third preparatory, which is scheduled from the last week of Feb. The focus hereafter will be on those who scored less than 20 marks,” said a senior official from the department.Belthangady BEO Tarakesari shared that most of the questions in the last preparatory were from the model question papers and the SSLC blueprint. At the BEO level, they decided to hold special classes during holidays as well, to improve results. This academic year, the results focused on quality, and this could not be achieved merely by just getting the passing marks. Students need to score well.Similar initiatives were held in other BEO limits too. An official from the North BEO shared that the focus hereafter will be on those who scored below 20. “In this exam, we made significant improvements and hope to do so in the next 2 exams, which include the final examination. In the remaining days, we are also roping in experts in mathematics and other subjects which are considered difficult for candidates.”When contacted, GS Shashidhar, DDPI, Dakshina Kannada, told TOI that he chalked out further plans to improve the results.
