Dibrugarh: In a landmark step towards promoting international academic collaboration, Dibrugarh University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with REAL ENTO, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand.The agreement was signed on March 6 as part of the PM USHA (Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) programme — a flagship Govt of India initiative aimed at transforming higher education institutions into world-class centres of learning.The signing ceremony was held at the premises of REAL ENTO (Research and Extension on Applied Life Sciences of Entomology), Kasetsart University, and was attended by senior faculty and researchers from both institutions. Representing Dibrugarh University was Prof. Dipsikha Bora, dean of the faculty of biological sciences. The Thai side was represented by Prof. Theeraphap, director of REAL ENTO, along with faculty members Dr Chris Daeyun Kim, Dr Ratchadawan Ngoen Klan and Dr Amonrat Panthawong. Members of the Research and Lifelong Learning Centre of Kasetsart University and research scholars from both sides were also present at the occasion.The MoU is expected to open new avenues for joint research, student and faculty exchange, collaborative academic programmes and scientific cooperation between the two universities, particularly in the life sciences and entomology domains.Dibrugarh University vice-chancellor Prof. Jiten Hazarika, who helmed the MoU initiative, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership. “This MoU marks a significant milestone in our journey towards internationalising higher education at Dibrugarh University. Under the PM USHA programme, we are committed to building meaningful global partnerships that will enrich the academic experience of our students and faculty,” he said.Prof. Dipsikha Bora, who led the delegation to Bangkok, described the partnership as a timely and forward-looking development. “The collaboration with REAL ENTO will provide our research scholars with access to world-class facilities and expertise, particularly in applied life sciences. We look forward to building a vibrant and sustained academic relationship with our Thai counterparts,” she said.
