Mumbai: The city Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Monday booked a company, its directors and others for allegedly cheating a businessman of Rs 34.75 crore in the diamond business.Nimesh Mehta, director, Cupid Diamonds Pvt Ltd, lodged an FIR at the BKC police station. The case was transferred to the EOW. Those named as accused include Solitario Lab Grown Pvt. Ltd., its director Ricky Vasandani and others.The accused induced the complainant to part with lab grown diamonds, and to expand their own business, the accused falsely represented that 15% shareholding in the newly incorporated company, namely Solitario Lab Grown Pvt. Ltd., would be allotted to the complainant’s entity, LINCBIZ LLP. Based on false representations, the accused knowingly executed a vague and legally unenforceable share subscription agreement and obtained the complainant’s signatures, the FIR said.
