Ranchi: Reviewing Muharram preparations across the state, DGP Anurag Gupta on Wednesday asked the police to maintain vigil on social media for taking quick action against miscreants trying to disrupt social harmony.During the interaction through video conferencing, Gupta issued orders related to deployment of forces, security of Muharram processions, verification of their routes, preventive actions and medical arrangements during the festival. Gupta asked districts to verify whether their police force have adequate availability of anti riot gears adding that drills to control mobs should also be held at their police lines.Gupta added that administration should call peace committee meetings at district and the police station levels to ensure that members of all communities cooperate in ensuing law and order during the festival.He further stated, “The administration should install closed circuit television cameras at the religious places located on procession routes and other sensitive places adding vigil should also be kept with help of drones, videography and photography.”He asked the districts to deploy adequate number of police personnel for security of processions adding lighting an public address system should be available on their routes. He said that all police personnel deployed with the processions should have body protectors and anti-riot gears. The DGP said that district should prohibit provocative songs though the loudspeakers and disc jockeys. ADG (HQ) Priya Dubey, IGs Manoj Kaushik, Prabhat Kumar and Michael Raj and DIGs were present in the meeting.
