Rourkela: Days after allegedly killing three members of his family in a fit of rage in Deogarh district last Wednesday, a 52-year-old man died after consuming psoison while evading arrest on Saturday.Ramesh Garia (52), a resident of Gariapali village in Kundheigola area of Deogarh district, died while undergoing treatment at Vimsar, Burla, late on Saturday night, said Johan Kuhur, inspector in charge of the local police station.After postmortem by Burla police, his body will be handed over to his son, he added.The accused, who was absconding for three days, was rescued atop a 40ft-high overhead water tank in his village. The accused was spotted atop the overhead water tank at Gariapali village on Saturday morning by villagers who informed the police.Kundheigola police rushed to the spot, along with fire brigade. By the time, police and firefighters reached atop the tank, Garia had consumed pesticide. He was brought down safely, but was critical. He was rushed to Kundheigola public health centre, from where, he was shifted to Deogarh district hospital and then to Vimsar, where Garia died during treatment.The triple murder took place around 11pm last Wednesday, when Garia allegedly picked up a quarrel with his wife Gul (44). As the argument escalated, Gul ran to her daughter-in-law Lipi’s room, where Garia followed her. In a fit of rage, he allegedly attacked Gul first, followed by Lipi, who protested, and her child, by striking them repeatedly on head with a hammer.
