Chandigarh: A food delivery executive died after being hit by a Thar SUV on the dividing road of sectors 25/38 late on Thursday night. Maloya police registered a case and arrested the accused, identified as Tejveer, a resident of Hanumangarh, Rajasthan.Tejveer, a student at Punjab University, will be medically examined to ascertain if he had consumed alcohol at the time of the incident. Family members of the deceased, Harbhajan Singh of Nayagaon, Mohali, alleged that liquor bottles were seen in his vehicle, which he was driving on the wrong side.The complainant, Anuj Kumar, the victim’s brother-in-law, said that on the night of March 12/13, at around 12:30am, Harbhajan Singh was riding a UP-registered motorcycle to Sector 38 for a delivery. As he was heading towards Shahpur light point in Sector 38, a black Rajasthan-registered Thar SUV allegedly hit the motorcycle. Upon receiving information, police rushed Harbhajan Singh to GMSH-16, where doctors on duty declared him dead on arrival.
