Madikeri: State-level Forest Rights Monitoring Committee member Ramesh of Nanachi, along with Gadde Tribal Colony representative Prakash and Brahmagiri–Kanthur Tribal Colony representative Muthappa, submitted a request to the deputy commissioner seeking a resurvey of pending forest rights applications.Thimma and Shivu of Nagarahole Colony sought the granting of habitat rights and the distribution of land titles. They also urged officials to conduct spot visits in cases where applications were rejected due to lack of documents and to issue the rightful certificates thereafter.Somaiah from Bommadu Colony requested a review and correction of the land area mentioned in the right certificate that had already been issued to him.Responding to these appeals during a meeting at the deputy commissioner’s office, DC Somashekar SJ instructed the concerned departmental officials to examine the issues in detail and resolve them in a phased manner. He further directed the officers to conduct a dedicated grievances meeting to address the problems raised by the tribal residents.
