Prayagraj: State secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and in-charge of Chandauli Anamika Chaudhary Nishad on Sunday performed a grand Rudrabhishek and offered prayers to Maa Ganga on the banks of Sangam extending her congratulations and best wishes to chief minister Yogi Adityanath for recently proposing to declare Daraganj locality as a heritage area.Nishad, along with party workers and supporters, launched a large-scale public awareness and gratitude campaign after this long-standing demand was fulfilled.Notably, the Daraganj locality is not only ancient but also preserves many historical treasures, including Raja Todarmal’s fort, which is famous as Moti Mahal, and several legacies of Mata Ahilyabai Holkar that still stand today.Temple of Lord Shri Venimadhav, also worshipped as the city deity, the Nagavasuki temple, and the statue of Ganga Putra Bhishma Pitamah are located at one end, while a huge temple of Mahavir Hanuman, Akbar’s fort, Minto Park, and Mankameshwar temple are in another area. In the middle, the ancient Curzon Bridge, used for railway traffic in India, still stands. Nearby, the huge Siddheshwar Mahadev and Navagraha temples of the revered Shankaracharya of Sringeri Sharada Peeth are located. The management bodies of Mahanirvani and Niranjani Akharas also operate from here. tnn
