Vadodara: A delegation from the Commonwealth Games (CWG) visited the Kotambi International Cricket Stadium on Friday, as the venue has been shortlisted as a potential host for the 2030 edition of the Games.Officials of the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) received the delegation and conducted a comprehensive tour of the stadium.The visiting team, which included Ann-Louise Morgan, director of sports, and Neil Carney, technical consultant, along with members of the Games Delivery Technical Team, inspected the infrastructure and facilities at the venue. “We took them on a guided tour of the Kotambi stadium, which has some of the best infrastructure in the country,” said Snehal Parikh, BCA CEO.Expressing satisfaction with the facilities, Morgan said, “It is evident that a great deal of planning and effort has gone into developing these facilities. We are very impressed with the infrastructure and overall readiness.”Officials from the Sports Authority of Gujarat, including assistant director Amit Gamit and liaison officer Vismay Vyas, were present during the visit, along with district sports officer Dinesh Kadam and district coach Akash Vadodaria.BCA officials said the delegation responded positively to the facilities and expressed hope that Vadodara would be considered for hosting events if the bid is finalised.The Kotambi International Cricket Stadium, with a seating capacity of around 30,000, is equipped with modern amenities such as an indoor gym and well-appointed dressing rooms. The venue has hosted several international matches over the past year, strengthening its case as a potential host for global sporting events.
