Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) booked Yendamuri Srinivas, a superintendent of customs currently posted at Customs House in Auto Nagar, Vijayawada, in a case of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.Srinivas previously served as inspector and superintendent at the office of the additional commissioner of customs in Kakinada.According to the FIR, the alleged financial irregularities pertain to the period between Jan 1, 2018, and Oct 5, 2024. During this time, Srinivas reportedly accumulated assets worth 1.4 crore, which are approximately 106% higher than his verifiable income. The CBI booked him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.A scrutiny of Srinivas’ transactions revealed that on Jan 1, 2018, Srinivas and his family were found to be in possession of assets amounting to 38 lakh as per Statement-A filed with the authorities. Over the next six years, he allegedly amassed wealth well beyond his known sources of income.The case is based on source information indicating deliberate enrichment through illicit means while Srinivas was posted at Kakinada Customs House. Following verification, the CBI concluded that a criminal case be registered against him for possessing wealth disproportionate to his lawful income.The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
