Patna: State chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting on law and order preparedness for the Holi festival, directing district administrations and police to enforce strict measures to ensure peaceful celebrations across the state.During the meeting, DGP Vinay Kumar ordered strict security arrangements, with close monitoring of DJ operations and immediate action against rule violations. He directed all SPs to conduct detailed briefings of subordinate officers and personnel to ensure alert deployment and effective on-ground response.The DGP also ordered the riot control squad to remain in 24-hour “ready mode” and directed the formation of special checking teams to conduct checks at sensitive locations. He instructed that Dial 112 services and district coordination centres remain fully operational during the festival period. Hospitals and the fire brigade were directed to remain in active mode to respond to any emergency.While addressing the meeting, ADG (law and order) Pankaj Darad cited around 20 incidents of communal violence reported during the festival last year. He instructed districts to remain on heightened alert and directed all district magistrates to mandatorily convene peace committee meetings to strengthen inter-community coordination and curb rumours.Additional chief secretary, home department, Arvind Chaudhary attended the meeting and instructed district administrations to take all necessary steps to maintain law and order during Holi. District magistrates and superintendents of police from all districts joined the meeting via video conferencing.
