Bhilwara: Tension gripped Tonk city Tuesday night after a clash broke out between two neighbouring families from different communities in Sanghpura Mohalla under the Purani Tonk police station area, leading to stone-pelting, injuries and cross-FIRs. One youth from each side has been detained and is being questioned.Police said the violence stemmed from an old rivalry between the two families, reportedly over car parking and other disputes. The situation escalated into an assault, drawing a large crowd and creating tension in the locality for some time. Senior police officials, along with teams from three city police stations, rushed to the spot and deployed heavy force to prevent further escalation. Two persons injured in the incident were admitted to hospital and are undergoing treatment. Tonk SP Rajesh Kumar Meena said cases were registered from both sides. One FIR includes sections of the SC-ST Act based on a complaint by one party, while the other has been filed under assault and related charges. The incident occurred during Holi and the ongoing month of Ramzan. Meena appealed to residents not to pay heed to rumours, stating that the situation was peaceful and under control, and investigation was underway. Meanwhile, Tonk BJP district president Chandraveer Singh Chauhan condemned the incident, alleging that miscreants attacked in a mob and demanded strict action against those involved.
