Ludhiana: Police on Thursday arrested a house owner in connection with the powerful explosion at an alleged illegal firecracker manufacturing unit in the Jodhan village area earlier this week. The accused has been identified as Mukhtiar Kaur. The development follows the recent arrest of two brothers—Sajid and Wajid from Muzzafarabad, Uttar Pradesh—who were reportedly operating the illegal facility from the premises where the blast occurred on Tuesday night.DSP Dakha Varinder Singh Khosa confirmed the arrest, stating she was apprehended for allegedly renting out her property without informing the police or conducting required tenant verification. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had brought laborers from Uttar Pradesh under the pretext of providing jobs, but allegedly forced them to manufacture firecrackers at the site. Police sources stated that a large quantity of raw materials, including potash used in firework production, was recovered from the spot. The two brothers were produced before a court and remanded in police custody. Officials indicated they will be questioned regarding the source of the explosive material, the duration of the illegal activity, the supply chain, and the involvement of any other potential suspects. Further investigation remains underway to uncover the full extent of the operation.
