Kanpur: Under the direction of district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh, strict action was carried out on Wednesday against black marketing and illegal refilling of gas cylinders in the district. During the raids at two locations, officials recovered 49 LPG cylinders, refilling equipment and an electronic weighing scale. In both cases, an FIR is being registered under section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act,1955.During the action, a raid was conducted on Wednesday evening at the residence of Iqbal, son of Siddiqui in the Gwaltoli area. The officials recovered 46 domestic and commercial category cylinders, six refillers and one electronic weighing scale from the spot. After illegal refilling of gas cylinders was found during the investigation, an FIR is being registered under the Essential Commodities Act.In another case, during an inspection of a shop belonging to a person named Imran near Mohalla Phephufunganj water tank under the food supply zone, the officials recovered three LPG cylinders (two empty and one filled), refilling equipment and a nozzle. Action is being taken in this case as well under section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act,1955.District supply officer Rakesh Kumar said a control room was set up at the office on March 11 for prompt resolution of problems related to gas supply. A total of 101 complaints were received through the control room landline and WhatsApp, of which 14 complaints were resolved on the same day, while the remaining complaints are being resolved as per rules.He said that on the instructions of the district magistrate, nine regional food officers and 18 supply inspectors were deployed to continuously patrol the area and monitor gas agencies and petrol pumps. He said strict action would continue against any kind of black marketing or illegal refilling found.ADM (Civil Supplies) Rajesh Kumar said that a call centre was established for prompt resolution of problems related to LPG gas supply. The telephone number 0512-2988763 was designated for the call centre. He said mobile number 6394616122 was also issued, on which the public could register complaints related to LPG gas supply and provide information regarding black marketing.
