T’puram: Sports minister and Tanur MLA V Abdurahiman will contest the assembly election from Tirur as an LDF independent. CPM had announced Abdurahiman’s candidacy in Tanur, but changed its decision after Abdurahman insisted on Tirur seat.Even as all other LDF candidates started their election campaign, Abdurahiman, who had won twice from Tanur, refused to even acknowledge his candidacy in his sitting seat. He had informed the district leadership in advance about his wish to move from Tanur to Tirur, his native place. Though Abdurahiman claimed that development of Tirur was his prime agenda for demanding the seat, a lack of confidence to contest from the sitting seat for a third time is also said to be the main reason behind the demand.CPM has also announced that P Jiji and K Preethi would contest from Kondotty and Kottakkal, respectively. CPM is yet to announce its candidate in Tanur.
