Hyderabad: Communist Party of India MLA K Sambasiva Rao on Wednesday said his party was opposed to the governor system, alleging that governors in recent times have been creating disputes between states.Commenting on the governor’s budget address in the assembly, he said the speech did not meet people’s expectations and was disappointing as it contained no new schemes for the poor and middle class. He accused the Centre of showing stepmotherly treatment towards Telangana and neglecting southern states. He urged the governor to raise the issue with the Centre and ensure that adequate funds are allocated to the state.Sambasiva Rao said the state was facing unprecedented financial difficulties and urged the governor to take the initiative to help address them. He also advised the govt to implement the promises made to Singareni Collieries Company Limited, and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation workers, warning that neglecting these commitments could lead to political repercussions. He further said that if projects such as Future City and Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy do not progress properly, the govt could face serious challenges, and suggested that special plans be prepared for their implementation. Referring to criticism over the Velugumatla issue, he said some people were targeting communists, but added that the country recognises their importance whenever problems affecting the poor arise.
