T’puram/Thrissur: The CPI on Sunday sprang a surprise by announcing its full list of 25 candidates within an hour of the Election Commission declaring the schedule for the legislative assembly election.The list includes four CPI ministers in the LDF govt. The party leadership also remained firm on its decision in the Nattika seat despite protests from sitting MLA C C Mukundan. The CPI went ahead with fielding former MLA Geetha Gopi as its candidate from the constituency.Meanwhile, Kaipamangalam MLA E T Taison will contest from North Paravur where he will take on opposition leader V D Satheesan in what is expected to be a keen contest. Alankode Leelakrishnan’s road show in Thrissur Meanwhile, cultural activist and poet Alankode Leelakrishnan conducted a roadshow in Thrissur within minutes after CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam announced him as the party candidate in the Thrissur assembly constituency. Hundreds of LDF activists participated in the roadshow which was led by CPM district secretary K V Abdul Khader, CPI leaders V S Sunilkumar and MLA P Balachandran. The roadshow which began from the CMS School area concluded in front of the Thrissur corporation office after passing through the Swaraj Round. Speaking to the media Leelakrishnan said he was fully confident of a victory in Thrissur. “The LDF had won in this constituency in the last two elections and we are set for a hat-trick win here this time,” Leelakrishnan said. The LDF candidates conducted road shows in various other constituencies in Thrissur, including Manalur, Guruvayur and Puthukkad. LDF has announced their candidates in all the seats in the district except in Chalakkudy where Kerala Congress (M) candidate is expected to contest.
