T’puram: A couple was injured after being attacked by an Indian gaur near Neyyar Dam on Wednesday. The incident occurred near Deer Rehabilitation Centre, when the animal suddenly charged at their motorcycle.The injured are Abhilash and Aparna of Kattakada. According to locals, the sudden attack by the gaur caused the couple to lose control of the vehicle, throwing both riders onto the road and leaving them injured.Locals rushed to their rescue and arranged for immediate medical assistance. The couple was first taken to a private hospital in Kattakada and later shifted to another private hospital in Neyyattinkara, where they are undergoing treatment. Hospital authorities said their condition is stable.Locals expressed concern over the increasing presence of wild animals in the area, especially during night hours. They said such incidents have become frequent, posing risks to commuters and locals.The forest department was informed soon after the incident. Officials reached the spot, conducted an inspection and registered a case. Monitoring has been intensified in the region to prevent further incidents.
