Bhubaneswar: Sonepur police on Tuesday uncovered illegal opium cultivation inside Singhasan forest near Arkhamunda village under Ulunda police station in Subarnapur district. Altogethers 15,318 opium plants were counted and destroyed in the presence of an executive magistrate. Police found opium plants spread over 2 land patches measuring 0.5 acre and 0.25 acre, with electricity supplied from 2 nearby houses.
