New Delhi: Police recently arrested an alleged member of the Kaushal Chaudhary gang who had reportedly been tasked with eliminating a Burari-based businessman.Gangsters Pawan Shokeen and Gurdeep, operating from abroad, assigned Kuldeep Singh (22), a resident of Bhalswa Dairy, to carry out the murder, police said. A probe indicated that the gang intended to target the businessman to assert their dominance and expand their extortion network. Singh had been involved in a Rs 5-crore extortion-cum-firing case in Punjab in 2024 and a similar case in Delhi’s Bhalswa Dairy the same year.Police were tipped off about Singh’s whereabouts in Sector 17 of Dwarka, DCP (crime) Harsh Indora said. “He was on a scooter when he was intercepted on Feb 7. He tried to flee but was caught by cops,” Indora said.Two loaded weapons — a PX-30 automatic pistol and another 7.65 mm pistol — and five live cartridges were seized from Singh. The scooter was found to have been stolen from Murad Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.Singh revealed that he dropped out of his BA second-year course and took to crime following his father’s murder over a property dispute in 2019. Pradeep alias Bantu introduced Singh to Shokeen. Acting on Shokeen and Gurdeep’s instructions, Singh, along with some associates, fired shots outside Chawla Cloth House in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur in Feb 2024 and demanded Rs 5 crore from the owner. Two months later, he threatened people and opened fired at Bhalswa Dairy, resulting in his arrest. He was released on bail in Aug 2025.Singh told police that the two pistols meant to be used to kill the Burari businessman had been supplied to him under the directions of Gurdeep, who is currently in Portugal, and Shokeen, through their associates.
