Chandigarh: Industries minister Sanjeev Arora pressed the industry tycoons who attended the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit to scale up their investment in the state. Addressing Lakshmi Mittal, executive chairman of ArcelorMittal, Arora said, “We are not satisfied with the Rs 2,600 crore. We got a whiff that you plan to set up a Rs 1.15 lakh crore plant in Andhra Pradesh. Please reconsider. Tell us what you want, and we should get that investment here.”Turning his attention to Sajjan Jindal of JSW Group, Arora said, “When I was in Mumbai, you announced an investment of Rs 1,500 crore, but we want more… You mentioned jugad. Jugad is start-up. Our ancestors who came from Pakistan after the Partition began as a start-up. Jugad is famous in Punjab, and we are proud of it.”BOX: Tackling stubble, green energyArora said stubble will soon cease to be a problem in the state as people are approaching him with innovative ideas, including making thread and tiles from stubble. He added that, to promote green energy, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited was switching from 15% green to 15% coal over the next eight years.
