Patna: Chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Monday announced that the supply of commercial LPG, which had earlier been restricted to 20%, has now been increased to 50% in view of improvements in the supply chain.At a review meeting held under his chairmanship to assess the current status of LPG supply and distribution in the state, Amrit also announced another key decision aimed at providing relief to rural consumers. The mandatory waiting period for rural domestic consumers to book their next LPG cylinder after receiving a refill has been reduced from 45 days to 25 days. Officials said the measure has been introduced to prevent panic booking and ensure equitable distribution of gas among households.
During the meeting, Amrit praised district magistrates across Bihar for managing the situation efficiently and keeping the public informed through regular press briefings. He said transparent communication had helped check rumours.The chief secretary directed oil companies and district administrations to ensure that all pending cylinder deliveries are cleared on priority. He also ordered strict legal action against anti-social elements involved in black marketing of LPG cylinders and against agencies found indulging in irregularities.District administrations have been instructed to intensify surprise inspections and raids to curb malpractice in LPG distribution.
