New Delhi: With a court discharging AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case, celebrations returned to the party headquarters on Friday, nearly a year after the dismal Feb 2025 assembly elections. AAP functionaries and workers gathered outside national convener Kejriwal’s residence on Feroze Shah Road and at the party headquarters at neighbouring Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla Lane, many carrying colours and flowers. Groups of workers danced to dhol beats and applied colours on one another as security personnel managed the crowd.Kejriwal’s journey from home to the party headquarters, though short, became a victory roadshow. High in intensity, the procession reflected the charged mood among workers. Showered with flower petals, the former chief minister emerged through the sunroof of his car, greeting supporters lining the route to the party office. The atmosphere reverberating with the beats of dhols and chants of “Satyamev Jayate”, Kejriwal acknowledged the crowd with folded hands, thanking them for their support.Supporters displayed a mix of relief and triumph, dancing and waving party flags, as the convoy moved forward. As it reached the headquarters, celebrations intensified, turning the place into the centre stage of festivities. Received by senior functionaries, Kejriwal first went inside the party office. He soon addressed a press conference, speaking at length about the case and declaring that “Kejriwal was not corrupt”. He was flanked by senior functionaries, including former deputy chief minister Sisodia and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh.“The discharge of our leaders in the case proved that the case was fake and hatched under a conspiracy to crush AAP. In the difficult time, we, with party workers, remained united and fought on, and today, in the end, we emerged victorious. Today, we are celebrating the victory of truth over a fake case and democracy over dictatorship,” said an AAP functionary. The party is planning to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar on Sunday against BJP. “The party wants to take this matter to every person in Delhi. Plans are being made to reach out widely so that people are aware of the truth,” another functionary said.
