Coimbatore: The city cybercrime police on Friday arrested a former DMK functionary for posting defamatory content about a party colleague on social media.A police officer identified the arrested person as Mohammed Rasheed, 38, of Kallamedu near Selvapuram. He was held based on a complaint lodged by Ibrahim, DMK secretary for ward 79. According to the officer, Ibrahim and Rasheed were neighbours and former friends. “They ended the friendship over a personal dispute, and Rasheed developed a grudge against Ibrahim. In an act of retaliation, Rasheed posted photos of Ibrahim on social media, claiming that he was sexually harassing women at the ward office. The post also claimed that Ibrahim had exploited several women by promising them jobs at ration shops.” He said Rasheed was produced before a court and lodged in jail under judicial custody.
