COIMBATORE: Security forces were placed on high alert after the Coimbatore District Combined Court Complex received a bomb threat via email on Tuesday morning, which later turned out to be a hoax.The email, received at 11.55am, was sent from a fake email address under the name “Nivetha Pethuraj Udhayanidhi.” The sender warned that 17 gelatine stick bombs had been planted on the premises and were scheduled to detonate by 1.10pm. The communication demanded the immediate evacuation of all judges, staff and visitors from the court complex.Upon receiving the alert, the city police swung into immediate action, mobilising the emergency response units. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), along with a K9 dog squad, was quickly deployed to the spot. Security personnel cordoned off the area and conducted thorough searches. No suspicious materials or explosives were found anywhere on the campus. The authorities declared the message a hoax, bringing relief to anxious staff members. Investigations are under way to trace the original IP address and locate the perpetrator behind the malicious email.
