Guwahati: Police on Monday detained three persons for allegedly hurling a plastic water bottle at the convoy of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while it was passing through Golaghat town. Reacting to the incident, BJP state president Dilip Saikia held the Congress party responsible, claiming the act reflected the growing frustration within the opposition. He said in a democracy, everyone has the right to protest. But such protests must be peaceful and democratic. “When a protest turns violent, it only reflects the deep frustration of the party involved. Such behaviour is dangerous for democracy,” he added.
