Chennai: Chief minister M K Stalin on Tuesday inaugurated 11 Mudhalvar Padaippagams and modern libraries across the city at a total cost of 33.85 crore, aimed at strengthening learning infrastructure for students and the public.While the facility at Ashok Nagar was opened in person, the others were inaugurated through video conference. The projects were implemented by Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority and Greater Chennai Corporation under the North Chennai development scheme and other civic initiatives.The Ashok Nagar centre, built at a cost of 12.74 crore, houses a modern library, children’s reading section, computer room, competitive exam wing, conference hall and an open-air auditorium, along with accessibility features for persons with disabilities.In addition, the chief minister inaugurated an indoor sports arena, a new Chennai Middle School building and Dr Ambedkar cooperative fair price shops, constructed at a combined cost of 10.96 crore.
