New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta chaired a high-level review of MCD works, focusing on sanitation and waste management. Stressing outcome-driven implementation, she said Delhi’s transformation into a clean and modern city depends on effective execution on the ground.Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, senior officials and MCD commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar attended the meeting. Gupta assured budget support to redevelop around 1,000 public toilets and urinal blocks.To modernise waste management, she ordered the development of waste-to-energy plants at Ghazipur, Narela, Okhla and Tehkhand on priority.Gupta called for stricter enforcement against littering, with stronger monitoring and penalties. While noting progress in construction and demolition waste management, she urged improved recycling and reuse through advanced technologies.She further stressed improving road construction quality, suggesting larger, experienced firms be assigned zone-wise responsibilities.
