Shimla: Himachal chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday inspected the under-construction heliport at Jaskot in Hamirpur district, being built at a cost of Rs 18 crore. Sukhu urged officials to speed up construction of the heliport and ensure completion by May. Highlighting the govt’s focus on tourism, Sukhu said improved connectivity and infrastructure were key to enhancing visitor facilities. He emphasised that tourism growth would boost the state economy and create employment opportunities for the youth.The chief minister noted that heliports are being developed in all district headquarters and major tourist destinations across the hill state. Recently launched helicopter services from Sanjauli heliport to Chandigarh and Reckong Peo made travel easier for tourists, he added. Additional services on the Sanjauli-Rampur-Reckong Peo and Sanjauli-Manali (SASE Helipad) routes will start soon, further strengthening air connectivity. Sukhu also reviewed the under-construction Hamirpur Bus Stand, a Rs 123 crore project. He observed that work on both projects is progressing swiftly and expressed confidence that timely completion would provide enhanced infrastructure and convenience to the district’s residents.
