Bengaluru: A 40-year-old civil contractor was arrested Thursday after allegedly stamping his homemaker wife to death at their residence in Nagasandra, following a dispute over money.The deceased, Kavya D, 35, was a mother of two. Her husband, Dhariyappa, allegedly turned violent after she refused to return Rs 2 lakh that he had kept at home for purchasing construction raw materials. Kavya had taken the cash, intending to hand it over to her elder brother. When she refused to return it, Dhariyappa allegedly struck her on the head and, after she collapsed, stood on her neck, killing her.The incident occurred around 12.30pm when the couple’s children had stepped out. Neighbours, alerted by the commotion, rushed in to find Kavya dead and immediately alerted police. Peenya police responded swiftly, though Dhariyappa had fled by then. He was subsequently nabbed, said an investigating officer.A case of murder has been registered.
