T’puram: A stage production inspired by cinematic storytelling will be presented for theatre audiences in the city on Saturday at the Ganesh Auditorium in Thycaud. Titled “Ast Geron”, the play is based on the life of Russian-American writer Elena O Labedeva. The production is scripted, directed and choreographed by Adrija Panicker, a theatre artist and dancer. The story explores themes of love, sacrifice and emotional struggle, with a focus on relationships beyond gender. “This is a fantasy. Dance theatre in Kerala usually deals with socially relevant or contemporary issues. This production discusses love, sacrifice and the struggles two people undergo for love. The narrative unfolds in a thriller style, using technology. The play has many elements of a film production, the only thing missing is the camera crew,” said Panicker. The cast includes theatre artists and dancers from across India, among them Vicky Bhartiya from New Delhi, Vinu P Verma from Bengaluru, actor Mahalakshmi Sarveswaran, dancer Shyama, and Devesh, along with Panicker. Performers trained in different styles, including Chhau and Kuchipudi, are part of the ensemble, supported by an art direction team. TNN
