Hyderabad: The crime investigation department (CID) on Tuesday issued a notice to Huzurabad BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, asking him to appear for questioning on April 4. A case has been registered against the legislator for allegedly obstructing the police and making objectionable comments against Karimnagar police commissioner Gaush Alam.In the notice, the investigators stated that a case earlier registered by the Huzurabad police had been transferred to the CID. Kaushik is accused of obstructing the free flow of traffic by staging a sit-in protest on Jan 29 at KC Camp Chowrasta in Huzurabad. Earlier, fearing that he might create a disturbance at the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, the police had restrained him from reaching the venue with a group.During the protest, he allegedly obstructed police personnel on duty and made derogatory, abusive and objectionable remarks against Karimnagar CP. “There are reasonable grounds to believe that your presence is necessary for the purpose of examination, questioning, and clarification of material facts connected with the investigation of the above case,” CID officials said in the notice.“During the said incident, you allegedly made derogatory, abusive and objectionable comments against the CP and other officials, and also threatened them with an apparent intent to provoke a breach of peace, incite public disorder, and lower the authority and dignity of police servants. The said acts were recorded in video footage and subsequently circulated on social media platforms,” the notice further stated.
