Bokaro: Chairing the maiden meeting of the Chas Municipal Corporation after the recent civic body polls, mayor Bholu Paswan on Thursday directed blacklisting of a ‘non-performing’ sanitation agency and asked officials to focus on improving civic services.The corporation has decided to place sanitation workers under ward councillors for better vigil. The meeting also reviewed contaminated water supply and directed agencies to ensure regular drinking water and better street lighting. Emphasis was laid on strengthening the city’s cleanliness system and improving accountability.“The civic body also resolved to blacklist M/S Chas Enviro Limited due to unsatisfactory performance in sanitation work,” read a statement from the civic body.Directives were also issued to ensure regular and adequate drinking water supply within 10 days, especially ahead of summer. The meeting also stressed the need to repair non-functional street lights and install new high-mast lights across wards.Councillors proposed the purchase of handcarts to improve waste collection in narrow lanes. An appeal was made to residents to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness and conserving water. Deputy mayor Pooja Kumari, additional municipal commissioner Sanjeev Kumar along with councillors and officials, attended the meeting.
