Equestrian Champions League, the country’s biggest show jumping event, is all set to begin at the Equestrian Crest, Molapalayam, here on July 4.
The three-day league, organised by Equine Sports India Federation (ESIF) in association with Indigenous Horse Society (IHS), Tamil Nadu, will feature 36 equestrians representing six teams — Chennai Bulls (Tamil Nadu), Pegasus Sports (Kerala), Bengaluru Knights (Karnataka), Golconda Chargers (Telangana), Quantum Reigns (Goa) and Elite Equestrians (West Bengal).
The teams have some of the well-accomplished equestrians such as Yashaan Khambatta (2014 Incheon Asian Games), Yash Nensee (2023 Hangzhou Games) and Surya Aditya (Asian Equestrian Federation Cup youth silver medalist) to name a few.
The flood-lit event will be held in two categories — showjumping 110cm and 120cm — and each team will showcase their skills in a two-phase speed class, against the clock, and normal show jumping. International federation (FIE) approved judges Karandeep and Sameer from New Delhi will evaluate the performances and the top three will be richer by ₹15 lakh, ₹10 lakh and ₹5 lakh respectively.
“We have been preparing hard the past three years for this event, and we are glad it’s finally taking off,” said Sakthi Balaji, ESIF CEO and IHS (TN) President.
“Since it’s happening for the first time we faced a few glitches. We brought down a few international consultants and since then managed to fix the flaws,” he said.
The entry will be free for which tickets can be obtained from ticketprix.com.
