Kanpur: A man wanted in connection with a chain snatching incident was injured and arrested after an encounter near the Bara Sirohi canal on Wednesday, police said.They said acing on a tip-off, police signaled a suspicious scooter rider to stop near the Bara Sirohi canal. However, the person riding pillion fired at the police team. In self-defence, the police retaliated, injuring Amit Kumar of Hanumant Vihar. His accomplice, Aditya Sonkar, managed to escape. An illegal homemade pistol, live cartridges, and Rs 9,200 in cash were seized from the suspect. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was allegedly involved in a chain-snatching incident on March 3 near the Panki Road. tnn
