Panaji: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) joined the Goa Carnival Parade 2026 at Porvorim, walking through the streets amid a host of traditional and cultural performances in an effort to fight corruptionThe CBI contingent drew attention as crowds gathered to watch troupes dance in colourful costumes.
Officers distributed pamphlets highlighting the agency’s presence in the state and urged citizens to report any government employee demanding bribes.“For corruption-related complaints or for information in central govt or public sector unit (PSU) offices in the state of Goa, please contact the CBI–anti corruption branch at Porvorim,” the pamphlet stated.On the first day of the carnival in Porvorim, only non-motorised carts were permitted, with no floats allowed.The event lasted over an hour and saw participation from more than 10,000 people.“CBI made an effort to reach out to the public at large by participating for the first time in the Goa Carnival,” a senior officer said.Officers wore logo-embossed jackets, T-shirts and caps, and carried banners displaying the agency’s name, address, email ID and phone numbers.An audio message was also played during the parade, urging the public to report corruption in central govt departments including customs, GST, income tax, passport office, railways and postal services, as well as central PSUs such as banks, Mormugao Port Authority, Goa Shipyard Ltd and BSNL.
