Hyderabad: Officials of the prison department on Wednesday said governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has granted permission for remission to 92 convicts serving life imprisonment.A source in the prison department said, following an internal scrutiny process, 103 life convicts were first identified by jail superintendents and their names were forwarded to the state govt. The government, in turn, sent the list for vetting by intelligence agencies. After this verification, a high-level committee led by the chief secretary selected 92 prisoners based on the intelligence reports. Bhubaneswar: The cabinet on Wednesday approved a revised cost estimate for a grid substation at Paradip (Ersama) to meet the rising power demand of upcoming industries in the Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR).The government had in 2020–21 cleared OPTCL’s proposal to set up a 400/220/33 kV grid substation at Paradip (Ersama) along with associated transmission lines at a cost of Rs 637.45 crore.
