Kolkata: The state has asked cops to strictly enforce the ban on toto operation on national highways, state highways, and other major roads. In a letter to the DGP on Friday, transport department principal secretary Ravi Inder Singh said totos were intended to provide “last-mile connectivity” but their operation on major roads was restricted under existing guidelines. The department said it had received several complaints indicating that unauthorised e-rickshaws were plying on various national and state highways. Such movement, it said, was not only contributing to traffic congestion but also raising concerns over road safety. Source link
