Ahmedabad: Residents of Punjavala ni Chali in Khokhra on Wednesday blocked traffic to protest against polluted drinking water supply and draw attention of authorities to the issue. Around 3pm, they placed cement blocks across the road outside the chali, bringing traffic to a halt. A team from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and policemen arrived at the scene after which the blockade was removed.An AMC official said, “The issue was polluted drinking water in Punjavala ni Chali. The accused persons in police custody Kendrapada: Four persons, including three women of a family, were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in the murder of 60-year-old Babula Barik of Santasahi village under Kendrapada town police station.Babula was allegedly bludgeoned to death with a stone by his nephew, Himanshu Barik, and other family members on Sunday night. Pune: A 39-year-old delivery person was arrested from Chinchwad on Tuesday in connection with a Rs1.33-crore nursing job fraud case in which over 15 women were duped.The delivery person is the third suspect arrested for duping women with the promise of nursing jobs in state govt hospitals. Margao: Margao town police on Wednesday arrested the driver of the rent-a-cab vehicle that knocked down a woman two-wheeler rider at Sirlim and fled the scene. Police traced him to Calangute with the help of CCTV and dashcam footage.The accused, Swaraj Jagtap, 19, a native of Pune, was brought to the police station after arrest.
