Chennai: To simplify procedures for marriage assistance schemes, Tamil Nadu govt has mandated online applications. Manual submission and middlemen services have been eliminated to ensure uniformity, transparency, and timely processing. Ahmedabad: A report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) analyzed the recently published contribution reports of electoral trusts for the 2024-25 financial year on the Election Commission of India (ECI) website and identified Gujarat as the fifth largest beneficiary of funding by electoral trusts with Rs 200.5 crore.Maharashtra topped the list, according to the report, at Rs 1,225.4 crore, followed by Telangana at Rs 358.2 crore, Haryana at Rs 212.9 crore, and West Bengal at Rs 203.8 crore. Keonjhar: An alert goods train driver stopped the locomotive in time after spotting a herd of 14 elephants crossing the railway tracks near Bedabandha in Keonjhar district on Friday.Four elephants, including two calves, initially turned back upon seeing the approaching train. Once they noticed the train had stopped, they carefully crossed the tracks. A video of them crossing the tracks later went viral on social media. Gurgaon: The city continues to struggle with road dust due to a glaring shortage of mechanical road sweepers. Though the city has 287 km of roads wider than 60 feet, requiring 38 large mechanical road sweeping machines (MRSMs), only 18 are operational, leaving a deficit of 20, data shows. This gap remains despite repeated directives from the CAQM, which mandated strict technical and operational standards for mechanised sweeping across the NCR.
