Hyderabad: An undertrial prisoner who attempted suicide in Cherlapally Central Jail succumbed on Wednesday while undergoing treatment.According to jail officials, the deceased, 21-year-old Rohit Pawar, had been in judicial remand for the past 52 days in connection with an alleged kidnapping and rape case registered by the Jawaharnagar police.On Sunday, Pawar reportedly went to the washroom and attempted suicide. After learning about the incident, jail authorities immediately shifted him to a hospital, where he remained under treatment until he died on Wednesday.The reason behind the suicide attempt is yet to be ascertained. Kanpur: A 23-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death near a railway track in Kanpur’s Babupurwa area on Thursday in what police suspect was a revenge killing linked to a long-running dispute over the alleged harassment of the victim’s sister.
