Ahmedabad: The Gujarat State Information Commission has directed education authorities to protect school principals and head teachers from alleged harassment through the Right to Information (RTI) Act, advising them to approach the police in cases where the law is allegedly misused to pursue personal disputes.The direction came in a July 16 order while deciding two second appeals involving Vadod Primary Boys School in Dhanera taluka of Banaskantha district. Rourkela: District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Sundargarh, has directed an electric scooter maker and its Sundargarh service centre to pay Rs 1.76 lakh to a customer after finding deficiency in service and manufacturing defects in a two-wheeler sold to him.In its July 22 order, the commission instructed Ola Electric Technologies Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru; its Khurda unit and service station in Sundargarh to refund Rs 1,16,801, paid by the customer, Kishore Kumar Rochwani (49), for buying the scooter and associated charges. GUWAHATI: The death toll in Assam’s ongoing flood crisis has crossed 40, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).Heavy rainfall has also caused waterlogging in several parts of Guwahati, disrupting normal life in the city.Earlier on Thursday, ASDMA said 10 people, including four children, had died in flood-related incidents over the previous 24 hours. “Three people each died in Sivasagar and Jorhat districts, two in Charaideo district, and one each in Dhemaji and Karbi Anglong districts. Kanpur: Surat police has arrested an 18-year-old youth from Kanpur for allegedly using artificial intelligence to create fake banking APK files and selling them to cyber fraudsters operating in Jamtara and other parts of the country for Rs 10,000 each. The Kasganj resident, who had studied up to Class XI, was arrested while hiding in a hotel.According to police, he created APK files of banking applications, including one resembling the ‘PNB One’ app, using AI.
