Guwahati: Assam continues to face a severe flood situation as the Desang river, which originates in the Patkai Hill at an elevation of about 2,200 metres in Arunachal Pradesh, flows above the highest flood level (HFL) at Nanglamoraghat in Sivasagar district, breaching its previous record.According to the Central Water Commission’s (CWC) flood bulletin, the Desang river reached a forecast water level of 96.52 metres, marginally exceeding the previous HFL of 96.49 metres recorded in Sept 1998.
