Canacona: Despite the presence of Chapoli and Gaunem dams, water supply in the Canacona remains irregular during the summer months, forcing several villagers to depend on tanker supply.“Residents are being forced to endure immense hardships,” said Shivraj Deshmukh, deputy sarpanch of Shristhal panchayat in Canacona.People with demanding daily schedules face severe difficulties due to the low water supply.According to the water resources department’s Canacona section, Chapoli dam is the primary source of supply to the taluka, while the Gaunem dam, a small irrigation reservoir in Gaondongrim village, was built to meet the needs of Gaondongrim, Cotigao, and parts of Poinguinim.A villager said several areas receive tap water for only few hours, with govt failing to address constraints in the supply.
