Buxar: The district wore a festive and devotional look on Friday as Ram Navami was celebrated with enthusiasm across Buxar and Dumraon towns. More than 25 processions, carrying grand idols of Lord Ram, were taken out amid drumbeats, devotional songs and chants of “Jai Shri Ram,” drawing large crowds of devotees.Preparations began early in the morning, with rituals and prayers performed at key locations including Ramrekha Ghat, Thatheri Bazar, Syndicate Road, Chausa Bazar and several areas of the Dumraon subdivision. Various Ram Navami committees showcased elaborately decorated tableaux of Lord Ram and Hanuman, adorned with flowers and colourful lighting, while youth groups in traditional attire added to the festive spectacle.Several processions depicted scenes from the Ramayana, with devotees enacting characters such as Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman. People standing along the routes welcomed the participants with showers of flower petals. In a display of communal harmony, members of both Hindu and Muslim communities set up bhandaras, drinking water counters and refreshment stalls at multiple points.Rahul Kumar Singh, a participant in a Dumraon procession, said the celebrations this year were more organised and disciplined than in the past. “Along with religious fervour, there was a strong message of social harmony,” he said.To ensure peaceful celebrations, the district administration put in place elaborate security arrangements. Additional police forces were deployed at sensitive points, and surveillance was carried out using drone cameras. Magistrates and police personnel remained on alert throughout the day, said Rakesh Kumar, SDM, Dumraon.Continuous patrolling helped maintain law and order, and no untoward incident was reported from Dumraon town or the subdivision, said Polast Kumar, SDPO, Dumraon.
