Jammu, Feb 1: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, today hailed the Union Budget 2026–27 as a pragmatic blueprint designed to accelerate economic growth, create future-ready infrastructure, and chart India’s path to a $5 trillion economy within a few years. He described the budget as a comprehensive fiscal strategy that balances growth ambitions with social welfare.
Sinha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for supporting initiatives like ecologically sustainable mountain trails in J&K, which are expected to generate new employment opportunities and invigorate the region’s tourism sector.
“The Budget emphasises economic acceleration, strengthens infrastructure, and advances manufacturing across seven strategic sectors while maintaining a steadfast commitment to social welfare. It promises transformative impacts across burgeoning industries, renewed momentum for semiconductor development through India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0, and a substantial stride toward reducing India’s reliance on imports of rare earth elements with the creation of specialized rare earth zones,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Highlighting the role of emerging technologies, Sinha noted, “With Artificial Intelligence, job creation, and service sector enhancement taking center stage, India’s competitive edge will strengthen across all economic domains. This progressive financial blueprint lays the foundation for comprehensive sectoral expansion and global prominence.”
The Lieutenant Governor added, “Budget 2026–27 charts the path to a $5 trillion economy and reflects our ambitious vision to achieve developed economy status within two decades. The budget also promises unprecedented empowerment for youth, women, and farmers. With manufacturing, infrastructure, MSMEs, healthcare, urban development, electronics, and supply networks forming the core of the future strategy, we will expand domestic production and generate substantial employment.”
